Prof. Yayon is expert in the fields of polypeptide growth factors, the extracellular matrix and the mechanisms underlying human skeletal disorders.
Prof. Yayon received his Ph.D. and M.D. degrees from the Hebrew University and Hadassah Medical School in Jerusalem, served as research associate at Harvard Medical School, Boston and as associate Professor, Molecular Cell Biology at the Weizmann Institute of Science, Rehovot.
Prof. Yayon was the founder of ProChon Biotech since its inception in 1996, developing treatments for inherited human skeletal disorders including the discovery of CNP as a treatment of Achondroplasia, currently in late stage clinical trials and the advanced, cell based cartilage regeneration system BioCart.
Since 2008 he is leading ProCore, a regenerative medicine company that recently launched ‘Regenogel’, a novel treatment for degenerative joint diseases and Osteoarthritis.
Prof. Yayon is recipient of the Edward H. Kass–First award, the Senta Foulkes Research Award and the ICRS Genzyme award for excellence in Cartilage Research.
